Gunmen have abducted Nelson Adepoyigi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifon Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway, near the entrance to Adepoyigi’s farm. Details surrounding the abduction were still unclear as of Tuesday.
Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, said:
“I can confirm that the APC Ward 5 Chairman was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along the Ifon-Owo road.”
Following the report, police operatives from the Ifon Division, in collaboration with local hunters, members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and personnel from the Nigerian Army, have launched a manhunt to track down the abductors and rescue the victim.
The police have appealed to members of the public to provide any useful information that could assist in the operation, urging citizens to remain alert and report suspicious activity immediately.
