A giant banner featuring President Donald Trump has been unveiled outside the United States Department of Justice headquarters in Washington, DC, placing a visible stamp of the administration on the nation’s top law enforcement agency.
The blue-toned portrait is displayed prominently on the historic Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building and carries the slogan “Make America Safe Again,” reflecting the administration’s stated focus on crime reduction and public safety.
Since returning to office last year, Trump’s Justice Department has drawn criticism from opponents who argue that some investigations appear aimed at individuals perceived as political adversaries. Among the cases frequently cited are prosecutions involving former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and inquiries connected to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, as well as several Democratic lawmakers.
Department officials have pushed back against allegations of political targeting, insisting that recent actions represent a necessary correction to what they describe as the previous “weaponization” of federal law enforcement.
Two federal criminal cases previously brought against Trump by former special counsel Jack Smith — one related to classified documents found at his Mar-a-Lago residence and another tied to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot — were ultimately dismissed or dropped following Trump’s electoral victory in November 2020.
Similar Trump banners have also appeared at other federal agencies, including the Departments of Labor and Agriculture, each displaying slogans aligned with administration priorities.
In a statement, a Justice Department spokesperson said the agency is “proud to celebrate 250 years of our great country and our historic work to make America safe again at President Trump’s direction.”
