Iran Blasts US And Israel, Accuses Them Of War Crimes After Strikes

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has accused the United States and Israel of committing war crimes, alleging that civilian infrastructure has been deliberately targeted in the ongoing conflict.

Tehran claims that more than 160 students were killed on the first day of the war when a girls’ school in the southern city of Minab was struck. Iranian authorities also reported that a hospital in the capital, Tehran, had been hit.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei criticized the attacks in a post on X, stating that they occurred “despite the aggressors’ claims of possessing the most advanced military hardware and precision-targeting systems.”

He further alleged that “the deliberate targeting and destruction of civilian infrastructure, medical facilities, schools, and media institutions by the United States and Israel, with the aim of paralyzing civilian life, constitute blatant war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday that the agency was working to verify reports regarding the alleged strike on Tehran’s Gandhi Hospital.

Responding to claims about civilian casualties, U.S. Central Command spokesperson Tim Hawkins said the military was aware of reports of civilian harm resulting from ongoing operations.

“We take these reports seriously and are looking into them,” Hawkins said.
