Tensions flared in Rano, Kano State, on Monday as irate youths set part of the Rano Divisional Police Station on fire following the death of a young man, Abdullahi Musa, while in police custody.
Musa was arrested on Sunday over an alleged traffic violation but died during interrogation, sparking outrage within the community. The protest that followed began peacefully but quickly turned violent. Enraged youths damaged parts of the police station and set several vehicles ablaze.
