JAMB Unveils 2026 UTME Registration Steps

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released comprehensive guidelines for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration, along with a list of common issues candidates may face.

In an announcement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, JAMB outlined steps to help candidates prepare ahead of the registration exercise.

Registration Procedure
Candidates must ensure that their personal information—including National Identification Number (NIN), email address and A-Level results—is correct before generating a profile code.
To obtain the code, candidates should send their 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 (e.g., NIN 00000011111 to 55019/66019).

Once issued, a profile code cannot be changed. Biodata is automatically sourced from NIMC, after which candidates can proceed to any JAMB office or accredited CBT centre to begin registration.

JAMB stressed that E-PINs should be purchased only through authorised channels such as banks, approved online platforms and certified vendors at registration centres. Candidates must verify the registration template and ensure all information is correct before final submission.

Key Tips

  • Make all corrections with NIMC early and confirm they reflect on the NIMC portal before registering (name, date of birth, gender, state of origin).

  • GSM numbers and email addresses must be unique, functional and not shared.

  • Candidates with biometric challenges should visit a JAMB office; no CBT centre is allowed to forcefully capture any candidate.

  • Ensure dual screens are used during registration and confirm that the passport photograph and fingerprints are captured correctly.

Common Challenges Identified

  • Error 550/66019: Caused by wrongly formatted requests; candidates must use the correct command.

  • “Number Already Registered”: Indicates that the phone number is linked to an existing profile; candidates should retrieve the SIM or use another number.

  • “Unable to Verify NIN”: Candidates should wait and try again later.

JAMB announced that the 2026 UTME registration form will be available from Friday, January 31, 2026, to Saturday, March 8, 2026.
