Kidnappers Demand N350 Million Ransom For Benue Bus Passengers

Abductors of passengers from a Benue Links bus attacked in Okpokwu Local Government Area have demanded a ransom of N350 million for their release.

The passengers were kidnapped on July 22 when gunmen suspected to be bandits ambushed the state-owned commercial vehicle and forcefully led the occupants into a nearby bush.

Terna Agbecha, a relative of one of the victims, confirmed that his cousin, Hembadoon Akume, is among those being held. He revealed that the kidnappers have contacted the family with the ransom demand.

“They called and asked for N350 million. Our elder sister has paid N500,000, but they refused to set her free,” Agbecha said.

Families of the abducted passengers are now calling on the Benue State Government and security agencies to intervene and ensure the safe and immediate release of their loved ones.
