Lisa Rinna has spoken out about persistent rumours surrounding her husband, Harry Hamlin, firmly stating that he is not gay.
In her new memoir, You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It, the former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star confronts the speculation head-on.
“Let’s just clear this up one last time, once and for all: Harry’s heterosexual,” Rinna writes. She adds that while there is “nothing wrong with being gay,” her husband is not “in any way, shape or form.”
Rinna suggested the rumours may have originated from Hamlin’s role in the 1982 film Making Love, in which he portrayed a gay man involved in a relationship with a married straight man. She believes the performance may have led some people to blur the line between his on-screen roles and his real-life identity.
According to Rinna, she was largely unaware of the gossip until she joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2014. Even then, she said she did not take it seriously, noting that many husbands on the show have been subjected to similar speculation.
She also argued that in Hollywood, attractive and fashion-forward men are often unfairly stereotyped, which may have contributed to assumptions about Hamlin’s sexuality.
Rinna and Hamlin have been married since 1997 and share two daughters, Delilah Belle, 27, and Amelia Gray, 24.
