Mohamed Salah is back in Liverpool’s squad for the Brighton game after reported talks with manager Arne Slot, ending a brief but high-profile fallout at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah has been recalled to Liverpool’s matchday squad for Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Brighton following what have been described as behind-the-scenes talks with head coach Arne Slot.

The decision comes days after the Egyptian forward ignited controversy with a candid post-match interview following Liverpool’s 3–3 draw with Leeds United. In the interview, Salah said he had been “thrown under the bus” and claimed he no longer had a relationship with Slot — remarks that fuelled intense speculation about his future at Anfield. He was subsequently omitted entirely from the squad for Tuesday’s 1–0 victory over Inter Milan.

However, according to reports from The Guardian, the 33-year-old has now been brought back into the fold for the Brighton fixture. His return is particularly significant as he is expected to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations immediately after the match.

Salah has not started any of Liverpool’s last four games and has endured a difficult run of form, mirroring the club’s struggles this season. Liverpool currently sit 10th in the Premier League after 15 matches — a stark contrast to last season, when they lifted the title in Slot’s first year in charge.

While it remains unclear whether Salah has offered a private apology, sources indicate that discussions have taken place between player and manager, though the details remain undisclosed. His comments after the Leeds game dominated headlines and drew heavy criticism, including from club legend Jamie Carragher.

Carragher labelled the interview “unacceptable,” suggesting it was a calculated move to apply pressure on the club. He said Salah’s rare media appearances have often been “choreographed” to strengthen his negotiating position.

Despite recent tensions and criticism over a perceived drop in intensity — partly linked to Slot easing his defensive responsibilities — Salah remains one of the most decorated players in Liverpool’s history. Since joining from Roma in 2017, he has scored 250 goals and provided 116 assists in 420 appearances, playing a key role in multiple domestic and European triumphs.
