      Gunmen kidnap Nasarawa Permanent Secretary

The Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Barr. Yusuf Musa, has been abducted by suspected gunmen, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Ramhan Nansel.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 14, when the attackers stormed the victim’s residence in Lafia.

According to the police statement, a patrol team from B Division, Lafia, discovered a Peugeot pick-up van with its doors left wide open at around 3:05 a.m., prompting immediate suspicion. On closer inspection, officers found the gate to Barr. Musa’s home ajar. A search of the premises confirmed he was missing, along with his GMC vehicle bearing registration number KUJ 88 PA, strongly indicating a possible abduction.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, activated a full-scale tactical operation, directing all police divisions across the state—including Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko—to begin coordinated efforts to track the suspects. Surveillance teams have been deployed along strategic routes to intercept the kidnappers.

“The Commissioner has ordered an intensive statewide manhunt and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the victim’s safe rescue and the swift arrest of those responsible,” the statement said.
