NFL Player Tez Johnson’s Ex-Fiancée Alleges He Cheated on Engagement Day

The ex-fiancée of Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tez Johnson has publicly accused him of cheating on her on the very day he proposed.

Laila Thompson-Wainer, a part-time staff member for the Seattle Seahawks, made the allegations in a TikTok video shared with her more than 200,000 followers. In the emotional post, she claimed that Johnson was in contact with his former girlfriend on the same day he asked for her hand in marriage.

“A year ago today I got engaged and later found out he cheated on me the same day he proposed,” Thompson-Wainer said. She described the experience as “really traumatizing,” adding that the anniversary brought back difficult memories.

Reflecting on the past year, she said the ordeal changed her outlook on people. “I went through 23 years of life believing in the good in people always as a default,” she explained. “And I feel like in the last year one of my biggest takeaways has been there are some evil people out there.”Thompson-Wainer detailed what she described as a seemingly perfect engagement day. The couple began their morning at their Orange County apartment before visiting a reptile zoo with Johnson’s hairstylist and her son. Later, they arrived at what she called a “beautiful venue in the hills,” complete with music and an elaborate floral setup. Johnson got down on one knee, and she accepted the proposal.

The celebration continued with engagement photos on the beach, followed by a sushi dinner before returning home.

However, Thompson-Wainer said she later discovered alleged text messages Johnson sent to his ex-girlfriend that morning and in the days surrounding the proposal. She shared screenshots in her video, claiming they showed inappropriate messages both before and after the engagement dinner.

“I’ve given up trying to understand how someone can be that evil,” she said, expressing frustration and disbelief over the alleged betrayal.

She concluded her video by explaining her reason for going public with the claims, saying she hoped her story would encourage conversations about healing and help other women feel seen and supported.

“Let me utilize the blueprint of a bad man to promote conversations about healing and create a community of women,” she said. “If I could make one person feel seen, heard or understood then I have accomplished my purpose.”

As of now, Johnson has not publicly responded to the allegations.
