Nollywood actress Omotola Odunsi, popularly known as Motola the Actor, has passed away. As of the time of this report, the cause of her death has not been disclosed.
The news was confirmed by her colleague, Akinola ‘Segbowe’ Akano, in an emotional Instagram post on Thursday, July 31, 2025. He shared screenshots of their last conversation and photos of the late actress, revealing that she had previously mentioned feeling better.
“Motola! Strange but I tried checking on you at the wee hours of that morning. You said you were FINE & BACK! This is a rude shock, Omotola! Journey well, sister. God be with your family,” Akano wrote.
Veteran actor Odunlade Adekola, under whose mentorship Odunsi trained, also confirmed the tragic news in a brief tribute, writing:
“Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”
Before pursuing acting full-time, Odunsi worked as a credit officer at a state-owned bank until her resignation in 2019.
