Okpebholo To Build 500-Bed Hostel At AAU Ekpoma

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has announced plans to construct a 500-bed hostel for the medical school of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

According to his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor made the announcement on Tuesday during a campaign tour of Iruekpen and Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area, ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial By-election.

Governor Okpebholo said construction would begin in the coming weeks.

The Edo State Government will build a 500-bed hostel for AAU medical students. We will mobilise for work to begin soon, he said.

He also reminded residents of his administration’s earlier support for the university:

When I became governor, I promised to increase the school’s subvention to ₦500 million. We’ve done that. We’ve also constituted the governing council.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on promises and urged party members to begin mobilising support toward securing 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign event drew several APC stakeholders, including:

  • Sylvester Aigboboh (State Deputy Chairman)
  • Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd) (Edo Central Senatorial Leader)
  • The Secretary to the State Government
  • The Chief of Staff, Gani Audu, among others.
