The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has expressed strong confidence in the party’s ability to bounce back and reclaim its former influence in the state and across Nigeria by 2027.
Speaking at the Abia North stakeholders meeting on Sunday, held at the country home of Hon. Mandela Obasi (member representing Ohafia North in the Abia State House of Assembly), the state PDP chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, declared that the party is on the path to resurgence.
“PDP will rise again. We have what it takes to win. Give the ticket to the people’s choice, and we will win,” Amah said. He added that under his leadership, no one would be allowed to sabotage the party.
“If you don’t support PDP, then step aside. We are focused, and I’m confident we will succeed.”
Host and lawmaker Mandela Obasi echoed this optimism, assuring that PDP will gain more seats in the House of Assembly, Senate, and House of Representatives by 2027. He urged party members to stay united and fearless.
Other notable attendees included PDP legal adviser Ukpai Ukairo, South East Deputy National Legal Adviser Okechukwu Asuoha, Abia North PDP chairman Okereke Elendu, former federal lawmaker Uko Nkole, and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Chinedu Ndubuisi (Bende South), among others. They affirmed that the PDP remains strong, organized, and the most democratic party in the country.
The stakeholders emphasized the importance of unity, urging party members to work together and listen to grassroots voices, despite recent defections.
In a communique signed by 40 party faithful, the group reaffirmed its dedication to the PDP’s unity and future success, especially the goal of reclaiming the Abia State Government House in 2027. They pledged full support for Elder Abraham Amah’s leadership and commended the State Working Committee for its rebuilding efforts.
“We stand firmly behind Elder Abraham Amah and commit our loyalty to his leadership,” the communique stated.
They called on members across Abia North to avoid internal divisions, promote inclusiveness—especially involving youth and women—and support the PDP caucus in the State House of Assembly.
The meeting also resolved to form local strategy and reconciliation committees throughout Abia North to address unresolved issues, align interests, and build a united front for a successful 2027 campaign.
