The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited Daura, Katsina State, on Wednesday to offer his condolences to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obi was seen at the former President’s residence a day after Buhari was laid to rest, following Islamic rites, in his hometown of Daura.
Buhari, who served Nigeria both as a military Head of State and later as a democratically elected President, was buried on Tuesday. His funeral prayer was led by Sheikh Salisu Rabiu, the Imam of the Central Mosque in Daura, before his remains were interred at 5:50 p.m.
In a solemn farewell marked by military tradition, Army Generals and Service Chiefs bore his coffin to the gravesite. A 21-gun salute rang out in his honor, symbolically closing the chapter on the life of one of Nigeria’s most prominent leaders.
