Sowore Alleges Plot to Prosecute Whistleblower “Justice Crack”

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the Department of State Services (DSS) is planning to prosecute whistleblower Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” despite public outrage over his detention.

Sowore made the claim in a statement shared on his social media platforms, accusing the secret police of attempting to criminalise a whistleblower whose earlier disappearance had sparked nationwide concern.

Chidiebere was initially reported missing under unclear circumstances, prompting widespread reactions online and calls from civil society groups demanding accountability from security agencies. He was later found to be in the custody of the Nigerian Army, a development that further heightened scrutiny over the case.

According to Sowore, instead of facilitating his release, the DSS is allegedly preparing legal action against him—a move he described as part of a troubling pattern of repression.

“The idea that someone who exposed wrongdoing could now be facing prosecution is unacceptable,” Sowore stated, insisting that the whistleblower should be released unconditionally.

As of the time of reporting, the Department of State Services had not issued an official response to the allegations.
