Sowore Blasts DSS Over Attempt to Delete His X Account, Calls It a ‘National Disgrace’

Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly writing to the owners of microblogging platform, X, demanding that his account be deleted over a tweet criticizing President Bola Tinubu.

In the controversial post, Sowore accused Tinubu of “shamelessly lying” during a visit to Brazil, a remark the DSS claimed was directed at the President and capable of provoking unrest. The agency argued that the comments damaged Nigeria’s reputation internationally and requested the suspension of Sowore’s handle.

Reacting via his X account, Sowore described the move as an “assault on common sense” and a “national disgrace,” accusing the DSS of operating above the law. He alleged that the Tinubu administration has repeatedly used security agencies to harass and persecute him through arrests, court cases, and even attempts to label him a terrorism sponsor.

“The brazenness of this is not only unconstitutional but a desecration of national dignity,” Sowore wrote, vowing that the struggle against what he called “rogue leadership” will continue with or without social media.

He likened the current situation to similar confrontations with the DSS under the Buhari administration, insisting that such attempts to silence him will ultimately fail.
