Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is reportedly still awaiting his salary for the past two months as the 2025 AFCON draws near.
Chelle, who earns a monthly salary of $55,000, is also responsible for paying his backroom staff. The delay in payment reportedly began after last month’s 2026 World Cup Playoffs in Morocco.
According to Vanguard, Chelle has led the team through the last two World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, as well as the playoff matches against Gabon and DR Congo, without receiving his salary.
This week, the coach met with the NFF technical committee in Abuja to discuss preparations for the AFCON in Morocco, where Nigeria has been drawn in the first round against Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
