Unions Petition Keyamo, Give 7-Day Deadline For Resolution Of NAMA Staff Wages

Major unions in the Nigerian aviation industry have petitioned Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development over the failure of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) implement the workers’ new remuneration despite the agreement reached with it in the last eight months.

The unions have therefore issued the NAMA’s management seven days ultimatum to improve on the remuneration of the workers or face withdrawal of service by their members.

This was contained in a letter jointly signed by the Generals-Secretary of the Air Transport Staff Senior Services of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Comrades Frances Akinjole, Ocheme Aba, AbdulaRasaq Saidu and Alo Lawrence, respectively.

The unions also copied the Managing Director of NAMA, All Federal Government security agencies, police commissioners at airports, all NAMA staff and the public.

The seven days ultimatum, which began on Thursday 31, would elapse on August 7, 2025.

The unions lamented that salary adjustment negotiation had been concluded with the management of the agency, but regretted that its outcome had been unimplemented in the past eight months.

It also said that its “rank and file members,” especially through their professional associations, had expressed in writing their frustrations against the non-implementation of the salary adjustments agreement over the months.

The letter added: “Recognising that notice of ultimatum has already been issued and served by our branches, which our national unions have adopted.

“A seven-day notice of withdrawal of services from today, Thursday, the 31st day of July, 2025, is hereby issued.”

The unions threatened that if by the next seven days, situations remain the same, all workers in NAMA will commence a withdrawal of their services nationwide.

The unions advised every NAMA clients to be aware of the notice.
