White House Criticizes Nobel Committee For Ignoring Trump

Gaza hostages to be released Monday or Tuesday — Trump

The White House strongly criticized the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday after it awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, bypassing US President Donald Trump.

“The Nobel Committee showed they care more about politics than peace,” White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung said on X.

“President Trump will keep making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has a humanitarian heart, and no one else can move mountains with his sheer determination,” Cheung added.

Since beginning his second term in January, Trump has repeatedly claimed he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in resolving various conflicts—claims many experts say are greatly exaggerated.

On the eve of the announcement, Trump restated his claim, saying his recent brokering of a ceasefire in Gaza was the eighth war he had helped end.

However, he also said on Thursday, “Whatever they do is fine. I know this: I didn’t do it for that, I did it because I’ve saved a lot of lives.”

Nobel Prize experts in Oslo had already stated before Friday’s decision that Trump was unlikely to win, citing his “America First” policies as inconsistent with the Peace Prize’s founding principles, as outlined in Alfred Nobel’s 1895 will.
