Arsenal have confirmed that 18-year-old midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly has signed a new long-term contract with the club, following a breakthrough 2024/25 season in which he cemented his place in the first team.
The announcement was made on Thursday via an official statement on the club’s website.
A product of Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy, Lewis-Skelly joined the Gunners at just eight years old and has risen steadily through the youth ranks. He first drew national attention during the 2022/23 FA Youth Cup, where he scored a dramatic late winner in the semi-final against Manchester City and played every minute en route to the final.
After signing his first professional contract shortly after turning 17, Lewis-Skelly truly made his mark in the 2024/25 campaign, featuring in 39 matches across all competitions. He made his senior debut in a Premier League clash against Manchester City in September, and soon earned his first start in a 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers.
His impressive performances continued throughout the season. He became the youngest Arsenal player to start a UEFA Champions League match since 2011, playing a key role in a 3-0 victory over AS Monaco. He also scored his first Premier League goal in a stunning 5-1 win over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
Lewis-Skelly’s influence extended to the Champions League knockout stages, where he registered two crucial assists — one against PSV Eindhoven and another against Real Madrid — helping Arsenal progress deep into the competition.
On the international stage, the teenager received his first senior England call-up in March for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He made a memorable debut at Wembley, scoring in a win over Albania — the first goal of Thomas Tuchel’s tenure as England manager.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Lewis-Skelly said:
I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I’m a fan, and it’s like a dream come true.
He added:
I want to leave a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in football — on the biggest stages — while staying grounded and always learning. That’s really important to me.
Arsenal noted that Lewis-Skelly’s new deal is subject to the completion of regulatory formalities.
