Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has confirmed that the late former President Muhammadu Buhari will be buried in his hometown of Daura, located in the Daura Local Government Area, on Tuesday.
Speaking to journalists at the Government House in Katsina on Monday, Governor Radda shared details of the burial plans following consultations with Buhari’s family and associates in London.
He said:
“The burial arrangements for our father, the late president who passed away yesterday in a London hospital, have been concluded. The body is expected to arrive in Katsina by 12 noon tomorrow, and the burial will take place in Daura at around 2 p.m.”
The governor extended condolences on behalf of himself, the state government, and the people of Katsina to the family of the late president and to Nigerians at large, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“May Almighty Allah grant us the strength to bear this loss,” he added.
President Buhari died on Sunday in London at the age of 82. In response, President Tinubu directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to travel to the UK and accompany the former leader’s remains back to Nigeria.
