On-air personality Dotun has criticised Nigerians who continue to attack singer Adekunle Gold over resurfaced tweets made years ago by his wife, Simi.
Simi came under scrutiny in February after old social media posts from when she was 23 resurfaced online. In one of the tweets, she referenced a four-year-old boy at her mother’s daycare who allegedly wanted to kiss her. In another, she wrote about feeling weak around a 16-year-old boy. The posts sparked backlash, with some Nigerians accusing her of inappropriate commentary about minors and calling for further action.
Responding to the criticism at the time, Simi maintained that the tweets were harmless and had no malicious intent.
Despite her clarification, some critics have continued to target both her and Adekunle Gold online. Dotun, however, argued that the backlash should be directed solely at Simi if necessary, stressing that Adekunle Gold should not be dragged into the controversy since he was not responsible for the posts.
