Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands, the heir to the Dutch throne, has become the target of a disturbing deepfake pornography attack, according to Norwegian outlet Seher Og Hor.
Artificial intelligence was used to create fake explicit videos by placing the 21-year-old royal’s face onto the bodies of adult film actors. Dutch authorities, with support from the FBI, have taken action to shut down websites distributing the videos—one of which, MrDeepFakes, was taken offline globally in May after being linked to similar content involving around 70 Dutch women.
Investigators have identified David Do as one of the suspected creators of the site and are seeking his extradition from Canada.
This is not the first time the princess has been targeted; similar incidents were reported in 2022. She is currently receiving support from her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.
The case comes amid a growing crackdown on AI-generated explicit content. In the Netherlands, making sexually explicit deepfakes is a criminal offence, carrying up to one year in prison—more for repeat offenders. Authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made yet.
