Arsenal have officially announced that Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new long-term contract, keeping the talented attacking midfielder at the club where he’s played since the age of eight.

In a statement on Friday, the club praised the 17-year-old’s impressive rise from their Hale End Academy to the first team, calling him “highly talented” and highlighting his continued progress.

Nwaneri made history in 2022 when he became the youngest-ever player to appear in a Premier League match at just 15 years and 181 days. Since then, he has continued to grow in stature. Last season, he played 37 games, scored nine goals, and made 16 starts for the senior team.

His breakthrough moments included:

  • Scoring twice against Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup
  • A stunning goal at Preston North End in the next round
  • His first Premier League goal against Nottingham Forest
  • A Champions League goal at Girona, which earned Goal of the Month
  • Winning Player of the Month for February, which included a goal in Arsenal’s 5–1 win over Manchester City

Nwaneri also made an impact internationally. He debuted for England U-18s on his birthday in May and went on to help the England U-21 team win the European Championship in June 2025.

Reacting to his new contract, Nwaneri said:

“Signing this contract means everything to me. I see this as my first real season in men’s senior football. I want to help the team win and bring success to the club. This is where I feel at home.”

Arsenal confirmed the deal is subject to final regulatory approval.
