The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has announced that all visa applicants must now disclose all social media usernames and handles used in the past five years as part of the visa application process.
The directive was shared on Monday via the Mission’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and aligns with the U.S. Department of State’s efforts to enhance national security through stricter screening measures.
Applicants are required to list their social media profiles on the DS-160 visa application form. Failure to provide this information could result in visa denial and may affect eligibility for future U.S. visas.
“Applicants certify that the information in their application is true and complete,” the Mission said. “Omitting social media details could lead to visa denial and future ineligibility.”
