King Charles breaks silence following reports of Prince Andrew police action

Britain’s King Charles III has said he is “deeply concerned” and stressed that “the law must take its course” following reports that his brother, Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was detained for questioning over alleged misconduct in public office linked to the Jeffrey Epstein files.

According to reports, officers from Thames Valley Police attended Andrew’s residence at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate on Thursday morning, his 66th birthday. Police have previously said they were assessing information suggesting the former duke may have shared confidential material with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Emails released in recent weeks by the US Department of Justice were reported to show Andrew, during his time as a UK trade envoy, sharing summaries of official engagements with Epstein.

In a brief statement following the reports, King Charles III said the police had the Royal Household’s “full and wholehearted support and cooperation,” adding that it would be inappropriate for him to comment further while inquiries continue.

Andrew, who previously served as a UK trade envoy, has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
