Lagos LG chairman dies after prolonged illness

The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa, has passed away after a prolonged illness, leaving the council and community in deep mourning.

The news of his death was formally announced on Saturday through a statement shared via Facebook by his Chief Press Secretary, Bodunrin Ayodele. However, the exact date of his passing was not disclosed.

“Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area is in mourning following the passing of its Executive Chairman, Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa,” the statement read. “Prince Asafa, a respected politician, leader, and dedicated public servant, succumbed to a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the people he served.”

A close family source confirmed that despite extensive medical care, Asafa could not recover, and his passing has left his family, friends, and colleagues devastated.

As news of his death spreads, tributes and condolences have begun to pour in from political associates, community members, and government officials who worked with him during his tenure. Many have praised his tireless efforts to improve the welfare of his constituents and his dedication to public service.

“The people of Oto-Awori LCDA have lost a devoted servant whose leadership and contributions will be sorely missed. May his legacy continue to inspire, and may his family find comfort in the impact of his service,” Ayodele added.

Among those who have expressed their condolences is the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area, Abdul-Hamed Salawu, who offered sympathies on behalf of the Somolu council and APC family.

“The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Abdul-Hamed Salawu, has sent condolences to the people of Oto-Awori LCDA and the APC family over the painful demise of Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” Salawu wrote.
