Police Vow Action as Violence Resurfaces in Adamawa

Fresh violence has erupted in Adamawa State, with arson attacks reported in Lafiya and Boshikiri villages, located in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas.

The recurring crisis, which often flares up during farming seasons in the two border LGAs, resurfaced on Wednesday, resulting in the destruction of properties and heightened tension in the affected communities.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Adamawa State Police Command condemned the incidents, describing them as acts of “mischief by fire.”

Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje confirmed that unidentified individuals set fire to several thatched huts in both Lafiya and Boshikiri. Properties belonging to residents Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna were reportedly destroyed in the attack.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incidents and immediate deployment of personnel to the affected areas to forestall further violence and apprehend the culprits.

The CP also warned that anyone found instigating or participating in acts of violence will face the full weight of the law.

The command urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and report any suspicious activity to aid swift intervention and restore peace.
