Singer Shawn Mendes has officially confirmed his relationship with Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine, making their romance Instagram official with a heartfelt birthday message celebrating her 31st birthday.
In the emotional post, Mendes described Marquezine as a positive influence in his life, writing: “A light and a mãe in every room you walk into.” He went on to thank her for the impact she has had on him, adding, “Not to be tooooo sappy but you’ve truly changed my life and I am so so grateful for you.”
The Canadian singer also expressed his love in Portuguese, writing, “Eu te amo muito muito muitoo,” which translates to “I love you so, so, so much.”
Alongside the tribute, Mendes shared videos of Marquezine celebrating her birthday at Casa Amarela Providência, a cultural and educational centre in Brazil. The clips showed children welcoming the actress with songs, dancing and cheers, while Mendes was seen smiling and interacting with the young attendees.
The post marks the couple’s first public confirmation of their relationship after months of dating speculation.
Rumours of a romance between Mendes and Marquezine first surfaced in December, and the pair have since been seen together on several occasions in both Brazil and the United States. In March, they were photographed sharing affectionate moments during a beach outing in Brazil.
Before his relationship with Marquezine, Mendes was in an on-and-off relationship with singer Camila Cabello between 2019 and 2023. He was also briefly linked to singer Sabrina Carpenter before reconciling with Cabello for a short period.
