Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s economy has emerged from a period of hardship and uncertainty.
The President made this known on Monday night, February 23, while hosting state governors for an interfaith breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa. During his remarks, he also revealed that the creation of state police is now firmly on the agenda.
According to him:
“We have moved beyond the woods and out of the dark tunnel of uncertainty. The economy is rebounding. Now is the time to support the unemployed. The commitments I have made will not be delayed. We will establish state police to tackle insecurity. Look around you.
Reach out to the young man who feels abandoned. Support the woman carrying her family on weary shoulders. Extend hope to grassroots communities where it sometimes fades. Development must not be defined by religion. Compassion must not be limited by tribe. Opportunity must not depend on status.
I am resolute in my mission to rebuild this nation. If we work together to restore hope to our people, the future will be brighter. The promises I made to Nigerians will be fulfilled without delay.
Security is the bedrock of prosperity. Without it, agriculture cannot thrive, businesses cannot expand, and families cannot rest peacefully.
The establishment of state police is not a political move but a practical necessity. It is about equipping states with the authority and resources to safeguard their citizens while reinforcing our national security structure. We must have the courage to reform what is failing and the unity to defend what we cherish.”
