American rapper Lil Poppa, born Janarious Wheeler, has died at the age of 25, according to authorities in Georgia.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed that Wheeler passed away on Wednesday, February 18, at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time, TMZ reported. Officials said the cause of death remains under investigation.
The young artist had just released a new single, Out of Town Bae, five days before his death and was scheduled to perform in New Orleans in March.
Lil Poppa was signed to the Collective Music Group (CMG) imprint led by Yo Gotti, a label that also includes Grammy-nominated star GloRilla.
He rose to wider prominence in 2021 with his breakout hit Love & War, a standout track from his project Blessed, I Guess. The song showcased his introspective style, as he reflected on love, vulnerability, and the struggle to protect those he cares about.
