Yahaya Bello Denies 2027 Presidential Ambition

Former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has dismissed claims that he is planning to run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, stating he has no such ambition.

In a statement issued on Friday by his media director, Michael Ohiare, Bello expressed shock over a resurfaced video from a 2022 rally, which was falsely portrayed online as a recent event signaling the start of a presidential campaign.

We categorically state that Alhaji Yahaya Bello has no 2027 presidential ambition. He remains fully committed to the re-election of President Tinubu,  the statement read.

Bello praised Tinubu’s leadership, saying the President had done “exceedingly well” in steering the country through global and domestic challenges and deserved continued support.

Ohiare described the viral video as deliberate misinformation by  mischief makers  attempting to create a rift between Bello and the President.

The dates on the rally banners clearly show it was from 2022. Anyone suggesting it’s new is simply trying to mislead the public,  Ohiare added.

This is not the first attempt by detractors to spread falsehood in a bid to undermine Bello. Their efforts have consistently failed.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the post, calling it a desperate attempt to stir unnecessary political conflict.
