Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had lunch with King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Monday, according to Buckingham Palace. The visit comes as Zelensky arrived in London ahead of the NATO summit taking place in The Hague.
The palace confirmed that Zelensky “visited The King this afternoon and remained to luncheon.” The Ukrainian president also plans to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other senior officials during his visit.
Zelensky is scheduled to attend the NATO summit on Tuesday and Wednesday and will also engage with Ukrainian troops training in the UK, as well as representatives from leading think tanks.
According to his spokesperson, the key focus of the trip is to strengthen defence cooperation. The UK has remained one of Ukraine’s strongest allies since Russia’s invasion in 2022, offering military aid and imposing several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
