The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the peaceful conduct of the FCT Area Council elections, declaring that the outcome has shown Nigerians the true ruling party and the real opposition in the country.
In a broadcast on Sunday, Wike described the election as peaceful, free and credible, saying it reflected the commitment of FCT residents to democracy and good governance.
He said the results proved that residents could not be swayed by “emergency democrats” or political gimmicks aimed at deceiving the electorate.
According to him, the poll was a clear endorsement of President Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said has restored confidence and optimism among residents of the nation’s capital.
Wike commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for conducting what he called a transparent exercise, and praised security agencies for ensuring order throughout the process.
He also congratulated the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party for their victories, urging all winners to serve with humility, dedication and commitment to development.
The minister reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue delivering democratic dividends to residents, especially those in satellite towns, in line with the President’s vision for the FCT.
