Suspected kidnappers in Nasarawa State were involved in a car crash shortly after collecting ransom money. The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, August 18, 2025, in the Angwan Mayo community, Kokona Local Government Area.

Reports say the suspects were attempting to flee the area when their Peugeot 406, reportedly loaded with weapons, crashed.

Professor Akyala Ishaku, an academic and research scientist, revealed the incident in a Facebook post, stating he witnessed the aftermath while heading to work.

He confirmed that the kidnappers abandoned the vehicle, leaving behind firearms and the ransom money, and escaped before security forces arrived. The Nigerian Army and Police responded swiftly to the scene.

“On our way to work this morning, kidnappers who had collected ransom had an accident at Angwan Mayo with their Peugeot 406 full of guns. They escaped, leaving the money and weapons behind. Thanks to the Nigerian Army and Police for the quick response,” he wrote.
