Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and forward Gift Monday have been recalled to the Super Falcons after head coach Justine Madugu unveiled a 25-player squad for this month’s international friendlies against Cameroon.
The nine-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions will take on the Indomitable Lionesses in a two-legged friendly in Yaoundé on February 28 and March 4.
Okobi-Okeoghene last represented Nigeria at the 2022 WAFCON, while Monday was left out of the squad for the 2024 edition of the tournament, which was staged in Morocco in 2025.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade headlines the squad, alongside first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo.
England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor received her maiden call-up, while defender Chidinma Okeke returns to the fold. Midfielder Precious Christopher also earned her first invitation.
The defensive line features experienced names such as Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Ashleigh Plumptre.
Other midfielders selected include Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini, while forwards Rinsola Babajide and Folashade Ijamilusi also made the cut.
Notably absent from the list is six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala.
The friendlies serve as part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3. The four semi-finalists at the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
